Matrix’s Manas Shome, Principal Water Resources Engineer based in our Edmonton location, has been elected to the grade of Fellow by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). The CSCE presents annual Fellowships to honour members who have attained civil engineering excellence and have contributed actively towards the progress of their profession; and Dr. Shome embodies these attributes according to a peer-conducted assessment of his career achievements, contributions to civil engineering in Canada, and demonstrated leadership within CSCE and the profession. This is a well-deserved accolade for an engineer who has contributed to innovative research and is committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation.
“I am very honoured to be recognized as a Fellow of the CSCE,” Manas said. “Honestly, as a volunteer and a strong believer in giving back to the community, I have been working to fulfill my professional obligations without expecting a reward; however, receiving such an honour really makes me proud and I am now even more obliged to make more contributions to the community and the CSCE.”
Manas has more than 25 years of professional experience that has focused on water resources engineering projects in Canada and abroad. He joined Matrix Solutions in 2013 where he provides technical leadership and mentoring on water resources projects. Manas has particular expertise in hydrology and hydraulic engineering, frequently serving as an expert witness in regulatory hearings. He is a professional engineer registered in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
The Fellowship was presented on June 14 at the honours and awards banquet at the 2019 CSCE annual conference in Laval, QC.
Congratulations Manas!
