Daron Abbey, M.Sc., P.Geo.
Principal Hydrogeologist
Daron is a Professional Geologist with over 15 years of experience in hydrogeological system characterization, groundwater flow and contaminant transport modelling and groundwater management across Canada, the United States and South America. His project and technical experience includes oversight of groundwater protection and management studies, risk assessments, water budget analyses and site scale contaminant transport and remediation studies. Daron provides technical leadership to clients and staff across Canada in problem conceptualization and evaluation of risk based solutions. He is based in Waterloo.
Sam Bellamy, P.Eng
Principal Water Resources Engineer
Sam is a Professional Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the water resources and environmental field for both the private and public sectors. An expert in the development and application of hydrologic and integrated surface/groundwater models, he specializes in water resource impact assessments, water supply projects, flood mapping studies, climate change adaption studies, environmental flow requirement investigations, and source water protection plans. Sam provides leadership and technical support to staff in the Waterloo, Mississauga, Ottawa and Fredericton offices, as well as technical support to colleagues and clients throughout Alberta and B.C.
Kelly Ostermann, M.Sc., P.Ag.
Principal Environmental Scientist
Kelly is a Professional Agrologist with over 25 years of experience in the environmental field. She worked 11 years at the University of Alberta researching reclamation and revegetation before moving into consulting. Her work has included assessment, remediation and reclamation as well as soil, vegetation and wetland surveys. Kelly is past President of the Alberta Native Plant Council, currently sits on the Registration Committee for the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, and also works part-time on a client secondment with a midstream oil and gas company. Her varied technical expertise provides clients with an interdisciplinary approach to projects. Kelly provides leadership and mentoring to staff in the Edmonton and Calgary offices.
Henri de Pennart, Ph.D., P.Biol.
Principal Scientist
Henri is a Professional Biologist with over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting specializing in surface water resources management for upstream and midstream oil and gas, transportation and municipal clients. He has been involved with the planning, permitting, construction monitoring and reclamation aspects of a variety of projects in Western Canada. Henri specializes in environmental impact assessments, integrated monitoring programs and aquatic spill response. He joined the Matrix Calgary team in 2010 and currently provides mentoring and technical leadership to colleagues and clients in Alberta and B.C.
Manas Shome, Ph.D., P.Eng.
Principal Water Resources Engineer
Manas is a Professional Engineer with more than 25 years of experience in research, teaching and engineering consulting. His experience involves a broad range of hydrologic and hydraulic studies in the private and public sectors in Canada and abroad. His project work focuses on sustainable water resources management, river engineering, computational modelling of rivers and drainage systems, design of hydraulic structures and environmental impact assessment studies. An expert in the field of hydrology and hydraulic engineering, he frequently serves as an expert witness at regulatory hearings. Based in Edmonton, Manas provides leadership and technical expertise to colleagues and clients across Canada.
